“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain

Every city has a story. Explore yours.
Several years ago I was ready to make a change in my career. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay in St. Louis or move West. I ended up staying put and decided, as the song says, if I couldn’t be with the one I loved (in my case, mountains and ocean), I’d love the one I’m with.
Ever since, I’ve made a point to look at my hometown with a different perspective. What I discovered was so much more than I ever imagined. No matter where you live, it’s easy to eventually take it for granted. But once you start seeing your city as a tourist, that dilapidated brick building you drove by a thousand times becomes a treasured landmark. You learn its history and significance and it takes on a whole new meaning. Suddenly, it’s like you’re seeing everything for the first time. That’s when you know you’ve crossed over. You’re now a tourist in your own town and you’ll never be bored with it again.
I hope this travel blog inspires you to find that sense of adventure wherever you live. And that your travels eventually take you to St. Louis.
Happy exploring!
